“I have been a Parent Governor since 2015 and took on the role of Chair in November 2017. As the son of two (now retired) teachers, and the husband of a primary teacher (Claire) I have always been interested in the education and school experience and am fully committed to supporting Outwoods Primary as a Parent Governor.

I am Project Manager at Rolls-Royce in Derby which helps to satisfy my interest in all things science and engineering. I have two young children; Zara, and Cameron, who are both at Outwoods.“

“I became a Parent Governor in March 2018.  I am married to Amie and have two children, Ava and Henry, who both currently attend Outwoods Primary School. Our family includes Logan the Weimaraner and Ginger and Harriot the chickens. I decided to become a governor to take a more active role in my children’s education, to work with the school so that as a Governor, I could ensure my children and all other parent's children were getting the best education the school could offer.

I work for Molson Coors as a Systems manager working on continuous improvement of our systems and processes.  I am enjoying getting to know the school better and believe we have the right vision and ethos to give our children the best start in life”.

My name is Margaret Collier and I am a Co-opted Governor.  I have been a school governor for over 25 years, first serving on the governing body of Castle Park Infants School and William Hutson Junior School as a parent governor.  I was involved in the amalgamation process of these two schools that resulted in Outwoods PrimarSchool.  I have also had additional responsibilities as SEN Governor and Safeguarding governor, as well as holding the post of Vice Chair of the governing body.

I enjoy my involvement with the school which goes much further than attending meetings and making decisions.  I have helped with school events, led the Eco projects, heard children read, cleaned and gardened.  I am not a Burtonian, but grew up in North London, trained as a paediatric nurse in London and moved to Burton when I got married 37 years ago.  I have three children who all attended Castle Park, William Hutson and de Ferrers, and now have a granddaughter who will hopefully be an Outwoods pupil when the time comes!

been working as Assistant Headteacher at William Shrewsbury Primary school for 9 Years and in that time have been a representative on the Burton Co-operative Learning Trust Board which includes both schools. I have been an advocate of collaborative working between the schools and found it professionally rewarding to work closely with colleagues from Outwoods and the other trust schools.

I have been a teacher since I left University, working in Spain and the UK. I have 2 grown up sons and a Dalmation!

I was pleased to be asked to join the Governing Body of Outwoods Primary School and I look forward to supporting the staff and Governors in providing a great start for all of the pupils.

My name is Joanne Cutbush and I have the privilege of being the Headteacher at Outwoods Primary School.  I have been part of the teaching team for 14 years when I joined as an NQT, and I have a great affinity and passion for the school, so it makes me extremely proud to be leading such a talented and committed team of staff.

Over the years, I have seen many changes to the school, but we are resilient and I am happy to say that we stand fast in our commitment and drive to provide the best education and opportunities that we can for all of our pupils.  Part of my role as Headteacher is to work closely with the governors, reporting important updates about attainment and progress of the children, ensuring they are informed of all the wonderful things that we do in school, as well actions that we are taking to improve the school further.  After digesting the information that is sent to them, they discuss any issues and pose challenging questions in their role of accountability.  The governors enjoy planned visits to the school to visit the children and observe their day-to-day experience.  I am proud to work with the governing body to make our school as special as it is.

On a personal note, I am a proud mummy to my little girl - I enjoy spending time with both her and my loved ones.  When time allows, I love to read and get lost in a book, and my passion for this is something I enjoy sharing with the children at Outwoods.

I have served on the governing body for 11 years, firstly as a non-teaching staff governor and now as a co-opted governor.  I am the Learning Mentor and Assistant SENCo for Outwoods.  My life at Outwoods began when I joined William Hutson Junior School as a Teaching Assistant on a 6 month contract  -  18 years later, I still enjoy helping children to blossom and reach their full potential, both in and out of the classroom.

I have been a Staff Governor at Outwoods Primary School since 2018, having previously been a Governor at Castle Park Infants and William Hutson Junior School before their amalgamation.  I started work at William Hutson Junior School in the office in September 2008 for a year then came back initially on a temporary basis. I am now the Office Manager at Outwoods Primary School and thoroughly enjoy my role.  There have been many changes over the time I have been here and the school continues to develop and improve.  Being a Governor gives an insight into school’s forward planning and challenges.

Burton upon Trent has been my home town since March 2001 when we moved from Lincolnshire due to my husband’s job.  We have two children who have attended Castle Park, William Hutson Junior School and Outwoods Primary School.
