I am Project Manager at Rolls-Royce in Derby which helps to satisfy my interest in all things science and engineering. I have two young children; Zara, who is at Outwoods and Cameron, currently at Nursery.“

Link Responsibilities:   Disability/Equality & Pupil Premium

I am a Co-opted Governor and was appointed by the BCLT.  I have been a governor in one role or another for over 30 years.  I am married with three children and 7 grandchildren.  My association with the school began when I was a pupil at William Hutson Junior School, and some of the best memories come from that time.  When my daughter began school at Castle Park I became a parent governor and I just carried on from there.  In those days Castle Park had a joint governing body with William Hutson so I sat on both.  The world of education was so different to that of today.  Thirty plus years later my eldest two grandchildren are pupils at Outwoods.

I am very proud of the pupils, staff and school and everything they have achieved over the years.  Outwoods is a rewarding school and I am proud to have played a small part in its journey.

Through my involvement with Castle Park, William Hutson and now Outwoods, I am honoured that I am now the proud owner of a MBE!

My name is Margaret Collier and I am a Co-opted Governor.  I have been a school governor for over 25 years, first serving on the governing body of Castle Park Infants School and William Hutson Junior School as a parent governor.  I was involved in the amalgamation process of these two schools that resulted in Outwoods Primary School.  I have also had additional responsibilities as SEN Governor and Safeguarding governor, as well as holding the post of Vice Chair of the governing body.

I enjoy my involvement with the school which goes much further than attending meetings and making decisions.  I have helped with school events, led the Eco projects, heard children read, cleaned and gardened.  I am not a Burtonian, but grew up in North London, trained as a paediatric nurse in London and moved to Burton when I got married 37 years ago.  I have three children who all attended Castle Park, William Hutson and de Ferrers, and now have a granddaughter who will hopefully be an Outwoods pupil when the time comes!

I joined the Governing Body when I was appointed to the post of Headteacher of William Hutson Junior School in September 2001. Prior to this role I was a Headteacher at Woodlands Junior School, an outstanding school in Kent. I was appointed Executive Headteacher at Castle Park in Spring 2008 prior to the amalgamation of William Hutson Junior and Castle Park Infants in Autumn 2009.  My role is to provide the Governing Body with information which they can use to help them carry out their role as strategic leaders.  This information includes school improvement, pupil performance, staffing, site matters and the school budget.  I work closely with the Chair and Vice Chair of the Local Governing Body and liaise with specific link governors during their monitoring visits to school.

I have been working as Assistant Headteacher at William Shrewsbury Primary school for 9 Years and in that time have been a representative on the Burton Co-operative Learning Trust Board which includes both schools. I have been an advocate of collaborative working between the schools and found it professionally rewarding to work closely with colleagues from Outwoods and the other trust schools.

I have been a teacher since I left University, working in Spain and the UK. I have 2 grown up sons and a Dalmation!

I was pleased to be asked to join the Governing Body of Outwoods Primary School and I look forward to supporting the staff and Governors in providing a great start for all of the pupils.

Although new to this Governing Board, I have accumulated a considerable amount of experience as a governor at other establishments. I was for many years a member of the Engineering Advisory Board of Burton and South Derbyshire Collage. I was also a member of the Governing Board of Paget High School for around 15 years which included a five-year spell as Chair. I was also a governor at Belvedere Junior School for the year prior to it’s forced academisation. I am currently a governor at Grange Infants school.

I have been a member of the Finance Committee at all these schools and have gained considerable understanding and experience in the setting and operation of school budgets.

I have wide experience of the candidate selection, interview and appointment processes for school staff at all levels.

I am delighted to have been co-opted to the Governing Board of Outwoods Primary School and look forward to assisting in the task of maintaining and improving the high standards already established at the school.

As Assistant Headteacher, I am responsible for leading the key stage 2 phase.  I consider myself to be most lucky to lead English across the whole school as this is a passion of mine. I have taught in Year 6 for a number of years now, which I have thoroughly enjoyed  - it's very rewarding to be a part of the children's final year of primary school and their transition to secondary school.

I have served on the governing body for 11 years, firstly as a non-teaching staff governor and now as a co-opted governor.  I am the Learning Mentor and Assistant SENCo for Outwoods.  My life at Outwoods began when I joined William Hutson Junior School as a Teaching Assistant on a 6 month contract  -  18 years later, I still enjoy helping children to blossom and reach their full potential, both in and out of the classroom.

I joined the Governing body as an associate member when I was appointed Deputy Head of William Hutson Junior School. I  attended throughout the amalgamation of Castle Park and William Hutson, which led to the formation of Outwoods Primary School, and then during the formation of the Burton Co-operative Learning Trust. In addition to my previous Deputy Head role, I was the SENCo for the same period. Now, as I have retired, I have changed my role on the Governing Body to become a Foundation Trust Governor. In this capacity I can continue to support the school and look forward to being able to do so.
